JEFFERSON CITY – Supporters of women’s health rallied at the state capitol last week to deliver what they said were 35,000 letters to House Speaker Steven Tilley and Governor Jay Nixon.

The group was protesting against Tilley’s intention to put a bust in the capitol honoring radio host Rush Limbaugh as well as Missouri legislature’s effort to control access to birth control and abortion care.

Rep. Tishaura Jones was the MC for the event and some of the speakers included: Rep. Jason Holsman, Rep. Sarah Lampe, Rep. Tracy McCreery, Rep. Margo McNeil, Rep. Stacey Newman, Rep. Jeanette Mott Oxford, Rev. Rep. Tommie Pierson, Rep. Clem Smith, Rep. Mary Still, and Sarah Felts, president of Law Students for Reproductive Justice at the University of Missouri.
